Job summary

BaptistCare NSW/ACT - Aged Care in Port Kembla is seeking a Cook for a part-time role (Mon-Thu, 8:30 AM–2:30 PM) until August 2028. You will prepare nutritious meals within budget and coordinate kitchen operations to deliver safe, high-quality catering services.

You will mentor volunteers and colleagues to ensure consistent service, while upholding HACCP standards and a welcoming, supportive environment for clients.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III or equivalent in hospitality/catering.
  • Previous experience in commercial cooking.
  • Demonstrated compassion and empathy for marginalised communities.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain hygienic conditions and HACCP-compliant practices.
  • Coordinate kitchen staff and volunteers.

At BaptistCare HopeStreet, we support people experiencing disadvantage or personal challenges. As a Cook, you will ensure clients receive nutritious meals within budget, coordinating kitchen operations to deliver high-quality, safe, and compliant catering services. Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Certificate III or equivalent in hospitality/catering
  • Previous experience in commercial cooking
  • Demonstrated ability of compassion and empathy to marginalised society members
  • Be able to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Ability to maintain hygienic conditions, store food safely and hygienically, monitor food quality at all stages and demonstrates work practices that meet HACCAP standards.
  • Ability to coordinate kitchen staff and volunteers
