Job summary

AMYOUN NOMINEES PTY LTD T/A CHAPELLI’S is seeking a Cook for our kitchen at 571 Chapel Street, South Yarra, VIC. The successful candidate will have Italian/Modern Australian culinary experience and be able to work full-time with weekend and late shifts.

Salary ranges between 80,000 and 85,000 AUD plus super, with ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skills.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate IV in Asian/commercial cookery is required.
• 1-2 years of practical cookery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various dishes from the menu including vegetarian, non-vegetarian and seafood options.
• Undertake pre-cooking prep such as washing, trimming, chopping, and grilling.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients as per recipes.
• Prepare food to meet cultural and dietary needs of customers.
• Portion and season dishes using appropriate spices.
• Assist head chef with estimating food and labour costs and ordering supplies.
• Maintain high quality and presentation of foods.
• Follow workplace health & safety procedures.

Job description

COOK required for a well-established Australian business “AMYOUN NOMINEES PTY LTD” T/A “CHAPELLI’S” located at 571 Chapel Street, South Yarra VIC 3141. Prospective applicants must have good prior experience of working commercially as a COOK in an Italian/Modern Australian cuisine. Duties include.

• Preparing various food items from the restaurant’s menu that includes vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and seafood dishes.
• Undertake pre-cooking preparations such as washing, trimming, carving, chopping, peeling, cutting, stirring, mixing, mincing, grilling, and boiling foods such as various meats, seafood, vegetables, and fruits.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients as per restaurant’s food recipes or personal judgment.
• Prepare food according to cultural and dietary needs of the customers.
• Portioning the food & seasoning of food using various spices.
• Assist chef/head chef in estimating food & labour costs, and ordering food supplies.
• Discussing food preparation issues with chef/head chef/manager and other kitchen staff.
• Examining of food by tasting it.
• Ensuring the food is of high quality and well presented.
• Handling and labelling stored goods
• Controlling and regulating oven temperature
• Showing good organisation in his workload, prioritizing tasks.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the food service area.
• Follow workplace health & safety procedures.

In Return, for your commitment and skills, you will receive a competitive salary package 80K - 85K (Plus Super) and receive ongoing training with the opportunity to develop your skills. Applicants with formal qualifications (AQF Certificate IV in Asian/commercial cookery) and with 1 - 2 years of practical experience working as a Cook (Preferable – Italian/Modern Australian) will be prioritised. Position is available full time, 38 hours/week but applicant must be available for 7 days/week and willing to work odd hours (Weekend, public holidays & late shifts).
