Job summary

Arcare Aged Care is seeking a casual cook at our Kanwal residence on the NSW Central Coast. You will prepare meals that are nutritious, appealing, and meet residents' dietary needs, while contributing to a positive dining experience.

The role offers meaningful work, above-award rates and opportunities for paid training, development and career progression. Australian Working Rights are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience in aged care is preferred.
• Able to work in a team and learn.

Responsibilities

• Meal preparation according to Head Chef menus, ensuring meals are nutritious and appealing.
• Accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g., texture-modified diets).
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards.
• Quality control of ingredients and finished dishes.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.

The Cook plays a significant role in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents at Arcare by providing delicious and nutritious meals. The cook prepares appetizing and well-balanced meals while fostering positive dining experiences that contribute to the overall health and well-being of our residents.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Meal Preparation: Responsible for preparing meals according to the menus designed by the Head Chef. Ensure that the meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet the specific dietary needs of individual residents.
• Special Diets: Accommodate special dietary requirements, such as texture-modified diets, to cater to the unique health conditions and preferences of our residents.
• Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent foodborne illnesses and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring that they meet high standards in taste, appearance, and portion sizes.
• Collaboration with Kitchen Staff: Work as part of a team in the kitchen, collaborating with other kitchen staff, to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.

Skills & Experience

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) - good to have
• Aged care experience preferred
• Adaptable, passionate and willingness to learn.
• Collaborative and skilled at teamwork.
• Friendly and effective communication abilities.
