Job summary

Arcare is seeking a dedicated cook to join our Victoria-based aged care kitchen. The role focuses on preparing nutritious, appetising meals that meet residents' dietary needs, while fostering positive dining experiences.

You will work in a supportive team, adhere to food safety standards, and contribute to residents' overall well-being. Australian Working Rights and a willingness to obtain an NDIS check are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) required.
• Adaptable, passionate and willing to learn.
• Friendly and effective communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals per Head Chef menus, ensuring nutritious and appealing dishes.
• Accommodate special dietary requirements to suit residents.
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
• Monitor ingredient quality, portion sizes and presentation.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.

The Cook plays a significant role in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents at Arcare by providing delicious and nutritious meals. The cook prepares appetizing and well-balanced meals while fostering positive dining experiences that contribute to the overall health and well-being of our residents.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Meal Preparation: Responsible for preparing meals according to the menus designed by the Head Chef. Ensure that the meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet the specific dietary needs of individual residents.
• Special Diets: Accommodate special dietary requirements, such as texture-modified diets, to cater to the unique health conditions and preferences of our residents.
• Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent foodborne illnesses and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring that they meet high standards in taste, appearance, and portion sizes.
• Collaboration with Kitchen Staff: Work as part of a team in the kitchen, collaborating with other kitchen staff, to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
