Job summary

Arcare Lisarow is seeking a casual cook to join a warm team, delivering nutritious meals and enhancing dining experiences for residents. The role supports high-quality food service with a caring approach.

You will prepare meals according to menus, accommodate dietary needs, and maintain strict kitchen hygiene while collaborating with colleagues to ensure timely service. Australian Working Rights and NDIS Screening are required or available to obtain.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) is advantageous.
• Ability to work AM or PM shifts.
• Australian Working Rights required; NDIS Screening Check or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Meal Preparation: prepare meals per Head Chef menus, ensuring nutrition, appeal and dietary needs.
• Special Diets: accommodate texture-modified and other dietary requirements.
• Food Safety and Hygiene: maintain strict standards in a clean kitchen.
• Quality Control: monitor ingredients and dishes for taste, appearance and portions.
• Collaboration: work with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal prep and service.

The Cook plays a significant role in enhancing the overall quality of life for residents at Arcare by providing delicious and nutritious meals. The cook prepares appetizing and well-balanced meals while fostering positive dining experiences that contribute to the overall health and well-being of our residents.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Meal Preparation: Responsible for preparing meals according to the menus designed by the Head Chef. Ensure that the meals are nutritious, appealing, and meet the specific dietary needs of individual residents.
• Special Diets: Accommodate special dietary requirements, such as texture-modified diets, to cater to the unique health conditions and preferences of our residents.
• Food Safety and Hygiene: Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards to prevent foodborne illnesses and maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Quality Control: Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, ensuring that they meet high standards in taste, appearance, and portion sizes.
• Collaboration with Kitchen Staff: Work as part of a team in the kitchen, collaborating with other kitchen staff, to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.

Skills & Experience

• Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) - good to have
• Adaptable, passionate and willingness to learn.
