Job summary

BlueCare Rothwell Aged Care Facility in Queensland is seeking a Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare and present meals meeting dietary needs and resident preferences, under the direction of the Home Services Lead and with the Chef.

This permanent full‑time role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent), food safety knowledge and strong teamwork. The position offers salary packaging, staff discounts and other benefits to support your work with residents.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) required.
• Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices.
• Understanding of IDDSI and dietary restrictions.
• Ability to work in a team and follow direction.
• Experience in aged care or healthcare food service is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with menus and dietary needs.

The role works under the direction of the Home Services Lead and collaboratively with the Chef to ensure meals are enjoyable, consistent and contribute to resident dignity, wellbeing and comfort. **As a key member of the kitchen team**, the Cook maintains a clean, safe and efficient work environment, follows established procedures and supports positive interactions with residents, families and colleagues. You will be organised, motivated and take pride in delivering excellent service, supporting residents with the following: * Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with corporate menus, recipes and dietary requirements* Ensure all meals meet IDDSI, allergen, cultural and texture-modified needs* Deliver meals that are well-presented, appetising and served at the correct temperature* Support food preparation, portioning, plating and kitchen operations* Follow safe food handling, hygiene and infection control standards* Complete documentation including temperature checks, cleaning logs and production records **Role requirements:** * Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)* Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices* Understanding of special diets, allergens and IDDSI requirements* Ability to work effectively in a team and follow direction* Strong communication and teamwork skills* Commitment to resident-centred care and positive dining experiences* Basic computer and documentation skills* Experience in aged care or healthcare food service (highly regarded)* Confidence to satisfy the relevant probity checks required by legislation or policies **How to apply:** Click **APPLY** to submit your application, you'll be redirected to our website to create a candidate profile, upload your resume and complete a questionnaire.
