Job summary

Churches of Christ Bribie Island Aged Care is seeking a Cook to prepare meals for residents, maintain kitchen hygiene, and support a safe, efficient kitchen operation on a permanent part-time basis.

You will handle cooking duties, ensure clean and compliant kitchen practices, record meal data, and coordinate with supervisors and suppliers to manage stock while upholding quality service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year’s experience as a commercial cook in a hygiene-controlled environment.
• Knowledge of food prep, cooking processes, hygiene and safe cleaning chemical use.
• Knowledge and understanding of texture modified foods.
• Basic computer skills, including email and online applications.
• Good communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safe work practices and quality service.

Responsibilities

About the role

As a Cook, you will work alongside our team to deliver quality food service for our residents. Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking food handling, meal preparation and cooking duties.


• Maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen, including equipment, appliances and utensils, in line with cleaning and infection control procedures.


• Completing basic records, including meal numbers, missed meals and fridge and freezer temperatures.


• Liaising with your supervisor and suppliers about ordering and stock control.

About you

You enjoy preparing food and understand the care that goes into providing a consistent, quality meal service. You bring a practical approach, clear communication and a willingness to work as part of a team.

You will have:

Appointment is subject to relevant screening requirements, including a current National Police Certificate or the ability to obtain one. Applicants must also have Australian work rights.
