Job summary

Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking a casual/part-time Cook or Chef for our Residential Aged Care Home in Hervey Bay, QLD. You will prepare, cook and serve nourishing meals for residents in line with the food service budget.

The role requires ensuring safety and hygiene of kitchen equipment, and effectively coordinating kitchen staff within WH&S guidelines and legislative requirements.

Qualifications

• Cook with experience in high-volume food service.
• Experience in residential aged care or elderly meal preparation is preferred.
• Knowledge of WH&S and food safety standards.

About the role:

Our Residential Aged Care Home located in Hervey Bay is seeking a casual OR partime Cook OR Chef to prepare, cook and serve nourishing, palatable and attractive in-house meals for residents and consistent with the food service budget.

The Cook/Chef is also responsible for ensuring that the safety and hygiene of kitchen equipment is maintained and adhered to within legislative and Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) requirements. Additionally effective coordination/leadership of kitchen staff is required within the legislative and WH&S requirements.

About you:

• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard in preparation, ordering, storage and food handling.
• Demonstrated ability to organise a kitchen team within a busy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage food service budget.
• Knowledge and experience in menu planning for dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Previous / recent experience in cooking for the elderly and within a large commercial kitchen.
• Experience within a residential service, not for profit or similar organisation.
• Working knowledge of legislative requirements including Workplace Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards.

Role Requirements:

• Valid Aged Care Worker Screening Check:
  o Current National Police Check OR
  o Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  NB: NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is mandatory for Services/Facilities delivering
  services to NDIS clients.
  o Statutory Declaration if you have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country
  other than Australia after turning 16.

• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or similar
