Anglicare Southern Queensland is seeking a casual Cook or Chef for its Residential Aged Care Home in Hervey Bay to prepare and serve meals for residents, while maintaining safety and hygiene in line with WH&S regulations.

The role involves budgeting, menu planning for dietary needs, and leading kitchen staff within a not-for-profit organisation.

Qualifications

• Proven ability in high-standard food preparation, storage and handling.
• Ability to organise a kitchen team in a busy environment.
• Experience planning menus to meet dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Knowledge of WH&S and Food Safety Standards applicable to aged care.

Responsibilities

About the role:

Our Residential Aged Care Home located in Hervey Bay is seeking a casual Cook OR Chef to prepare, cook and serve nourishing, palatable and attractive in-house meals for residents and consistent with the food service budget.

The Cook/Chef is also responsible for ensuring that the safety and hygiene of kitchen equipment is maintained and adhered to within legislative and Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) requirements. Additionally effective coordination/leadership of kitchen staff is required within the legislative and WH&S requirements.
About you:

• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high standard in preparation, ordering, storage and food handling.
• Demonstrated ability to organise a kitchen team within a busy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage food service budget.
• Knowledge and experience in menu planning for dietary and nutritional requirements.
• Previous / recent experience in cooking for the elderly and within a large commercial kitchen.
• Experience within a residential service, not for profit or similar organisation.
• Working knowledge of legislative requirements including Workplace Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards.
  

Role Requirements:

• Valid Aged Care Worker Screening Check:
  o Current National Police Check OR
  o Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
  NB: NDIS Worker Screening Clearance is mandatory for Services/Facilities delivering
  services to NDIS clients.
  o Statutory Declaration if you have been a citizen or permanent resident of a country
  other than Australia after turning 16.
• Anglicare strongly encourages you to stay up to date with the immunisations recommended for
  your role, as outlined in our Worker's Immunisation Procedure.
• Certificate IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or similar
