Job summary

Megaplex is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team in Queensland. You will prepare accurate cost estimates, review project documentation and source supplier and subcontractor pricing for tender submissions across residential, commercial, civil, or construction projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience as Construction Estimator or similar role.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs and tender docs.
• Experience preparing tenders, cost plans and quantity take-offs.
• Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, plans, specs and tender documents.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender submissions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing project documentation, sourcing supplier and subcontractor pricing, and supporting tender submissions across residential, commercial, civil, or construction projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of construction, and the ability to work closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and tender documents.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions.
• Source and assess quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and trades.
• Conduct material take-offs and labour cost calculations.
• Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, project managers, and site teams.
• Maintain accurate records of pricing, estimates, variations, and tender documentation.
• Assist with budget preparation, cost planning, and value engineering.
• Monitor market pricing, supplier rates, and construction cost trends in Queensland.
• Ensure estimates align with relevant Australian Standards, building codes, and Queensland construction requirements.

About you

• Previous experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience preparing tenders, cost plans, and quantity take-offs.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
• Knowledge of Queensland building regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, and local supplier markets is highly regarded.
• Qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with Cubit – Build software is essential.
