Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is seeking a Team Lead, Connection Delivery to oversee a portfolio of complex generation and network connection projects across the National Electricity Market (NEM). You will work with developers, Network Service Providers, and regulators to deliver high-impact programs, shaping Australia's energy transition.

The role leads a team of 5–8 PMs, with flexible location across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.

Qualifications

• Engineering, project management, regulatory or stakeholder management qualifications, and at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong understanding of the National Electricity Law (NEL) and National Electricity Rules (NER) and AEMO's role in connection/registration.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation, establishment, delivery and reporting of government-sponsored Connections programs.
• Drive implementation of connection reforms and process improvements for efficient integration of new generation across the NEM.
• Oversee program financials including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost recovery and governance.
• Establish and embed consistent project and portfolio management practices across Onboarding and Connections.
• Mentor and develop a team of project managers; foster a collaborative, high-performing culture with agile problem-solving.
