Job summary

1 Hotel Melbourne is seeking an experienced events and conference manager to plan and deliver high-profile events. The role focuses on coordinating room setups, catering, AV, guest logistics and post-event analysis, while building strong client relationships and ensuring objectives are met.

Responsibilities include partnering with Sales on proposals, site inspections, contracts, and handovers; coordinating with hotel departments; leading on-site teams; handling on-the-fly changes; and using

What you’ll do

• Manage the planning and delivery of conferences and events, coordinating room setups, catering, audiovisual requirements, rooming lists and guest logistics.


• Build strong client relationships by understanding each event’s objectives and keeping communication clear throughout the planning process.


• Partner with Sales on proposals, site inspections, contracts and event handovers.


• Coordinate with hotel departments and on-site teams to ensure event requirements are understood and delivered.


• Lead and support event teams on site, helping create a smooth experience for clients and guests.


• Respond calmly and confidently to changes or challenges during events.


• Review client feedback and event performance, identifying ways to improve our conference and events experience.

What you’ll bring

• Experience in conference or event management within a hotel or hospitality environment.


• At least three years’ experience in a supervisory or management role in hospitality or events.


• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines.


• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.


• A calm, solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced environment.


• Confidence using Microsoft Office and event management systems.


• Knowledge of local event regulations and compliance requirements.


• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.

A bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred. Event planning or project management certification is highly regarded.
