Job summary

AustraCold in Tottenham, VIC is seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer for Cold Storage and Transport to uphold regulatory, safety and quality standards across our operations. You will maintain and enhance our compliance framework, document findings and drive corrective actions in collaboration with OHS and Compliance Manager.

Key duties include conducting audits, reviewing procedures, training staff on compliance requirements, and supporting internal and external audits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a Compliance Officer or similar role in cold storage, food or logistics.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, transport regulations and occupational health and safety.
• Experience with audits, non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures specific to cold storage and transport operations
• Conduct regular audits and inspections of storage facilities, transport vehicles and handling practices to ensure adherence to legislation and standards
• Monitor and ensure compliance with food safety regulations, temperature control requirements, OHS legislation, and transport authority requirements
• Investigate compliance breaches and non-conformances, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions
• Maintain detailed compliance records and documentation, preparing regular compliance reports for management and stakeholders
• Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance requirements and safety protocols
• Review and update compliance procedures in response to changes in legislation and industry standards
• Support internal and external audits, managing corrective action plans

Compliance Officer - Cold Storage and Transport

AustraCold is seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer - Cold Storage and Transport to join our team in Tottenham, VIC. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in ensuring our operations meet all regulatory, safety and quality standards within the cold storage and transport industry. As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our compliance framework, protecting both our business reputation and the integrity of the temperature-sensitive products we handle. This position is integral to our commitment to operational excellence and regulatory adherence across all aspects of our cold storage and transport services.

Reporting to: OHS and Compliance Manager

Key responsibilities

Maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures specific to cold storage and transport operations

Conduct regular audits and inspections of storage facilities, transport vehicles and handling practices to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and industry standards

Monitor and ensure compliance with food safety regulations, temperature control requirements, occupational health and safety legislation, and transport authority requirements

Investigate compliance breaches and non-conformances, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions

Maintain detailed compliance records and documentation, preparing regular compliance reports for management and stakeholders, knowledge of NHVR and CoR will be advantageous.

Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance requirements, safety protocols and best practices

Review and update compliance procedures in response to changes in legislation and industry standards

Support internal and external audits, managing corrective action plans and follow-up activities

Identify areas of compliance risk and implement preventative measures to minimise exposure

What we’re looking for

Proven experience (3+ years) as a Compliance Officer or in a similar compliance/quality assurance role, preferably within cold storage, food safety, transport or logistics industries

Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, including food safety standards, transport regulations, workplace health and safety requirements, and cold chain management

Strong understanding of cold storage operations, temperature monitoring systems and best practices for maintaining product integrity

Excellent audit and inspection capabilities, with the ability to identify non-conformances and develop practical solutions

Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple compliance projects concurrently

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex compliance requirements to staff at all levels

Proficiency in data management and record-keeping systems, including Microsoft Office and ideally warehouse management systems

Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with operational, management and external stakeholder teams

A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Relevant tertiary qualification in Compliance, Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline (advantageous)
