Job summary

AustraCold in Melbourne's VIC region is seeking a Senior Pallet Controller and Manager to lead pallet operations within our Tottenham-based warehouse. You will oversee receipt, storage, tracking and dispatch of pallets, optimise asset utilisation and ensure accurate inventory records using our WMS.

The role requires 5+ years in warehouse/logistics with at least 2 years in supervision, strong leadership and data analysis skills, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in warehouse management or logistics, with 2+ years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in pallet control, inventory management and WMS.
• Experience with health and safety in warehouse environments.
• Strong leadership, communication and training abilities.
• Diploma or equivalent in logistics or warehouse management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pallet operations: receipt, storage, tracking and dispatch.

About the role

AustraCold is seeking an experienced Senior Pallet Controller and Manager to join our warehouse and distribution operations based in Tottenham, VIC 3012. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in the efficient management and control of our pallet inventory and logistics operations. You will be responsible for overseeing pallet operations, ensuring optimal asset utilisation, and maintaining the highest standards of warehouse management within our fast-paced distribution environment. This position is instrumental in supporting the smooth operation of our warehousing and storage facilities, directly contributing to our customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Reporting to: Transport Operations Manager and solid dotted line to Warehouse Operations Manager

What you’ll be doing

Supervising and coordinating all pallet-related operations, including receipt, storage, tracking and dispatch of pallets throughout the warehouse

Managing pallet inventory levels and maintaining accurate records using warehouse management systems to ensure data integrity and real-time visibility

Implementing and monitoring pallet control procedures to maximise asset utilisation and minimise loss or damage

Overseeing the maintenance and repair of pallets, liaising with suppliers and maintenance teams to ensure equipment is fit for purpose

Leading and mentoring warehouse team members involved in pallet handling and logistics operations, providing training and performance feedback

Identifying process improvements and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and improve safety standards

Coordinating with logistics partners, customers and internal departments to manage pallet movements and resolve operational issues

Conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with warehouse standards, health and safety regulations and company policies

Reporting on key performance indicators related to pallet operations, inventory accuracy and cost management

Managing pallet-related budgets and expenditure, including maintenance costs and replacement stock

What we’re looking for

5+ years of experience in warehouse management, pallet operations or logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role

Demonstrated expertise in pallet control systems, inventory management and warehouse operations, 2IC desirable

Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory tracking software

Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to warehouse and storage operations

Proven ability to lead, train and motivate warehouse teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail

Experience in the cold storage or food distribution sector is highly desirable

Relevant qualifications such as a Diploma in Logistics or Warehouse Management, or equivalent experience, would strengthen your application

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data analysis

Current driver's licence (Australian equivalent) is preferred
