Job summary

ACCORD CARE in Braybrook, Victoria is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to provide shift coverage for a participant with cerebral palsy and complex needs. The role requires following participant-specific support plans, clinical guidance and swallowing guidelines.

The ideal candidate is calm, observant and reliable, with strong documentation skills. Morning shifts are available on weekdays, with a focus on personal care, mealtime support and mobility assistance within a structured

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Individual Support or equivalent.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Current Working with Children Check (where required).
• First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Medication-assistance training.
• Manual-handling/hoist-transfer training or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including toileting, continence support, dressing and hygiene.
• Assist with mealtime management for dysphagia.
• Recognise and respond to choking and emergencies.
• Provide medication assistance per plan and ACCORD CARE procedures.
• Perform ceiling-hoist transfers safely per manual-handling plan.
• Support safe use of wheelchair and shower commode.
• Assist with positioning, mobility and pressure-care.
• Use non-verbal communication to support preferences.
• Follow Positive Behaviour Support strategies and early-intervention approaches.
• Document progress notes, incidents and handovers.
• Follow evacuation procedures for non-ambulant participants.
• Maintain a safe, respectful care environment.
• Collaborate with family, support team and clinicians.
• Follow participant plans and ACCORD CARE policies.
