Job summary

Kanda is seeking compassionate disability support workers in Canberra to provide person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care. You will support participants in home and community settings, uphold rights and promote independence while maintaining professional boundaries.

Day-to-day duties include personal care, community access, emotional support, PBS planning, and accurate documentation. The role offers opportunities for casual or permanent part-time schedules with ongoing training

Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience in disability support or related community services.
• Understanding of PBS and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ability to follow detailed support plans and routines.
• Strong documentation, reporting and incident-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and mentor newer team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support in home and community, including personal care and daily tasks.
• Assist with community access, social participation, and employment goals.
• Offer emotional support during distress and use regulation strategies.
• Implement PBS plans with clear communication and routines.
• Support medication prompts and health routines as scope allows.
• Maintain shift notes, progress notes and incident documentation.
