Job summary

Moranbah & District Support Services Association Inc. (MDSS) in Moranbah seeks a capable Chief Executive Officer to lead day-to-day operations, deliver services to the community, manage staff and work with the committee and stakeholders.

You will translate strategy into reliable service delivery, ensure contractual performance and measurable outcomes, while contributing weekly to counselling and community work, and strengthening partnerships across rural areas.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary or vocational qualification in social services or related field.
• Demonstrated senior leadership or management experience in community services, charity or similar environment.
• Substantial frontline experience in case management, family support, counselling, community development or related practice.
• Ability to interpret government service agreements, achieve funded outputs and maintain auditable records.
• Sound financial, commercial and operational judgement including budgeting and risk management.
• Leadership style that builds accountability and supports staff while focusing on clients and community.
• Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement with diverse partners.
• Commitment to ethical, culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Responsibilities

• Strategy and governance: set priorities, implement the strategic plan, manage risk and report clearly and timely.
• People and operations: lead the team, strengthen culture, manage performance and workforce planning.
• Financial sustainability: manage budgets, cash flow, funding, procurement, acquittals and audit readiness.
• Funded-service performance: oversee neighbourhood centre and family support contracts and ensure outputs and reports are delivered.
• Quality and compliance: lead HSQF readiness and maintain compliant policies, safeguarding, privacy and safety.
• Services and partnerships: build relationships with government, partners and service providers.
• Growth and funding: identify and secure grants and sustainable opportunities aligning with MDSS.
• Practitioner delivery: contribute to family and community support work within competence (counselling, case management, referrals).
• Community representation: be a visible, trusted MDSS representative, ensuring accessible and culturally safe services.
