Job summary

Murweh Shire Council in Queensland seeks a Chief Executive Officer to lead the council's strategic direction and ensure delivery of operations.

You will oversee strategic planning, financial management, HR and operations, serving as the principal staff officer and primary link between elected members and the organisation. You will report to the Mayor and work with a seasoned leadership team to drive accountability and performance.

Qualifications

• Tertiary or postgraduate qualification in management, business administration or a related discipline.

• Strong fiscal management experience in government environments.

The Position

As our Chief Executive Officer, you'll lead the council's strategic direction and operational delivery. You will manage all core functions including strategic planning, financial management, human resources and operations. You will be the principal staff officer and primary link between elected members and the organisation, providing expert advice on local government matters. You will report to the Mayor and work closely with an experienced Council and senior leadership team.

About You

You hold a tertiary or postgraduate qualification in management, business administration or a related discipline. You bring significant leadership experience and a steady hand to managing complex portfolios across diverse technical disciplines. You are skilled at translating strategy into tangible outcomes, building high-performing teams, supporting our up and commers and enhancing our culture of accountability. You have strong fiscal management experience and demonstrated success in local, state or federal government environments. You communicate with clarity and influence and are excited by being part of a vibrant regional lifestyle and community.

You will bring

Contemporary management practice knowledge including delegation, performance management and succession planning. Highly developed project management skills. Proven ability to manage human, physical and financial resources effectively. Strong customer service focus and commitment to continuous improvement. Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when needed. The capacity to champion and support organisational change while maintaining service excellence.

A permanent full-time contract for 3-5 years.

Total Remuneration Package:

• Base Salary: $250,000 per year
• Superannuation: 12% of base salary
