Job summary

A W Edwards is a leading Australian builder delivering major commercial projects across Sydney. We are seeking a seasoned Community Coordinator to oversee communications, stakeholder relations and community engagement for two state-significant data centre projects.

The role reports to the Senior Communications and Community Manager and requires collaborative cross-team work. You will develop strategies, manage notifications, build relationships with residents, businesses and government bodies,

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, marketing or related discipline, plus at least three years’ experience in communications or stakeholder relations.
  • Experience on major infrastructure, construction, utilities, transport or other complex projects.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with strong community engagement and relationship management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in OpenPoint, Microsoft Office and other digital/project management systems.
  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver communications and stakeholder engagement activities in line with project requirements and approved strategies.
  • Prepare and distribute community notifications, newsletters, e-updates, fact sheets, presentations and other communications materials, including updates on construction activities, changes, timeframes and potential impacts.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with local residents, businesses, community groups, clients, contractors, councils and government agencies.
  • Plan and facilitate stakeholder meetings, site visits and project events.
  • Manage community and stakeholder enquiries, complaints and sensitive issues within required timeframes, coordinating with site and project teams to investigate and resolve matters.
  • Identify emerging stakeholder risks and recommend practical mitigation measures to minimise community impacts.
  • Maintain accurate records, and prepare regular reports on engagement activities, enquiries, complaints, commitments, issues, trends and compliance.
  • Provide communications and stakeholder engagement advice to project and site teams.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the role

We are seeking an experiencedCommunity Coordinatorto support two of our State Significant data centre projects in Sydney.

Reporting to the Senior Communications and Community Manager, you will manage day-to-day communications, stakeholder engagement and community relations across both projects. You will work closely with project teams, clients, contractors, businesses and community members to ensure stakeholders are informed and project impacts are appropriately managed.

This is a hands-on role suited to a communications or community engagement professional who enjoys working in a dynamic project environment.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with strong community engagement, consultation and relationship-management capabilities.
  • The ability to identify emerging issues, understand stakeholder sentiment and recommend practical responses.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and manage competing priorities and time-sensitive deliverables.
  • Proficiency in OpenPoint, Microsoft Office and other digital or project management systems.
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between project and site locations.

A White Card and formal training in stakeholder engagement, complaints management, public relations or communications would be desirable.
