Job summary

Securitas Australia is seeking a Commissioning Technician to lead commissioning and technical activities on major security projects in Melbourne. You will coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering and Service teams to deliver CCTV, EACS and integrated security solutions.

The role requires hands‑on delivery, documentation, and handover through project stages, with opportunities to mentor apprentices and grow technical leadership within the team.

Qualifications

About the Role

The Commissioning Technician is responsible for providing and overseeing commissioning and technical functions throughout all phases of project delivery.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineering and Service teams, you will coordinate activities that support the efficient and successful delivery of project outcomes. The role will involve commissioning major projects across CCTV, EACS and security systems, while providing technical leadership and guidance to Service Technicians and undertaking hands‑on technical activities where required.

You will also contribute to system documentation, project handover, technical standards and the development of other technicians, including potential apprentices.

Key Accountabilities

• Commissioning & Technical Delivery-Provide and oversee commissioning and technical functions across all phases of project delivery, including major CCTV, EACS and security system projects.
• Technical Leadership-Provide technical knowledge, guidance and support to Service Technicians and assist with complex technical activities as required.
• Project Coordination-Work closely with Project Managers and project delivery teams to coordinate activities, resources and technical requirements to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Planning & Organisation-Proactively plan upcoming works and ensure all required materials, tools, equipment and resources are available to support efficient project delivery.
• Systems Documentation-Work with Engineering to develop installation and test plans, commissioning plans, as-built documentation, manuals and training documentation.
• Project Handover-Support the handover of systems from project delivery through to DLP, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.
• Technical Development-Continue to develop technical skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of standards, systems, policies and procedures within the Security Division.
• Mentoring & Development-Work with the management team to mentor and support other technicians, including potential apprentices.
• Stakeholder Communication-Maintain clear and effective communication with Project Managers, Engineering, Service Technicians, customers and other stakeholders.
• Teamwork & Culture-Contribute positively to the team and company culture while supporting the growth and capability of the team and business.
• Continuous Improvement-Identify opportunities to improve technical processes, systems, standards and ways of working.
• Professionalism & Accountability-Demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent time management, multi-tasking capability and a proactive approach to work.

Technical Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have strong technical knowledge across electronic security, networking and IT environments, including:

• CCTV, EACS and integrated security systems.
• General networking systems, including basic routing, IP addressing, VLANs and switching.
• Domain policies and various storage solutions.
• High availability and failover systems.
• Basic low-level scripting.
• Third‑party software and high‑level system integrations.
• API and REST‑based integrations.
• Strong computer literacy and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Confidence and willingness to learn new systems, technologies and programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• NSW Security Industry Licence – subclasses 2B, 2C, 2D & 2E.
• Current Drivers Licence.
• Construction Induction – White Card.
• Working Safely with Asbestos.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Sound knowledge of networking, including routing, IP addressing, VLANs and switching.
• Sound knowledge of IT systems, integrations and related technologies.
• Previous experience in electronic security commissioning or a similar technical role.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project delivery team.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other technicians.
