Job summary

Crowne Plaza Perth is seeking a part-time Commis Chef to support our Gusti restaurant, room service and events teams in East Perth. You’ll help prepare Italian-inspired dishes, maintain high quality and hygiene standards, and contribute to a smooth kitchen operation.

Ideal candidates have kitchen experience, a passion for food, strong teamwork, and flexibility to cover early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Australian working rights are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen; hotel experience is a plus.
• Experience cooking Italian cuisine is highly regarded.
• Passion for food and teamwork; strong work ethic.
• Pride in presentation and cleanliness in a fast-paced setting.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Current working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a range of dishes across breakfast, room service, restaurant and events.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and hygiene.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with food safety standards.
• Assist in receiving, storing and preparing ingredients as required.
• Support a positive, respectful, and safe team culture.
• Work closely with team members and leaders to ensure smooth daily operations.

As our new Part Time Commis Chef, you could be supporting our team to ensure guests enjoy a truly memorable dining experience – whether you’re helping prepare for a large conference banquet or making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes for their favourite meal.

Crowne Plaza Perth is a riverside hotel located in beautiful East Perth with picturesque Langley Park at the doorstep.

Our Italian inspired Restaurant & Bar, Gusti, is located at the front of the hotel boasting views of the Swan River on the alfresco terrace. On the terrace, visitors can dine under the canopy of the palms with breath-taking views. The Terrace is also a popular location for cocktail functions, weddings or corporate events.

Inside, we offer a crowd-favourite hotel Lobby bar with ample seating types perfect for guests awaiting check in, to those on business calls, and everyone in between.

Crowne Plaza Perth also offers a choice of meeting spaces which can host up to 80 pax, where we allow guests to meet in confidence.

What We Need From You

• Previous experience in a commercial kitchen; hotel experience a plus, but not essential.
• Previous experience cooking Italian cuisine is highly regarded.
• Experience in baking and pastries is a bonus, but not required.
• A genuine passion for food and teamwork.
• Pride in your work; from presentation to cleanliness.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
• Current working rights in Australia.
