Job summary

Mercure Perth on Hay is a 127-room full-service property in the heart of Perth. We are seeking a passionate Part Time Commis Chef to join our professional kitchen team across breakfast, lunch and dinner, helping to create memorable culinary moments for our guests.

As a Commis Chef you will work within a dynamic hotel F&B operation, assisting in preparation, stock control, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification and experience in a similar role, preferably within a hotel or restaurant environment.
• Excellent technical knowledge with experience in a variety of cooking techniques and styles.
• Exemplary communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain high and consistent standards.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain food safety standards and understanding of HACCP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items showing variety and flair, within the cost margins specified by the hotel.
• Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage. Have stock control procedures implemented and maintained.
• Keep all working areas clean and tidy including washing dishes and kitchen cleaning. Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned. Report any problems to the Head Chef
