Job summary

Dorsett Gold Coast is seeking a Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen, supporting day-to-day preparation and production across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar. You will work under the guidance of our senior chefs to help deliver high-quality dishes for à la carte service, functions and events.

As part of a fast-paced, supportive kitchen environment, you’ll develop culinary skills across different areas while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or currently working towards this qualification.
• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
• Experience working on grill and pan sections is preferred.
• Understanding of food safety, HACCP and WHS requirements.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce food to established recipes and standards.
• Assist with food preparation across the Executive Lounge and Jin Bar.
• Support senior chefs during service, functions and events.
• Ensure consistency, quality and presentation of all dishes.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
• Correctly store, label and rotate stock to minimise spoilage.
• Assist with stock control and kitchen organisation.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.
• Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Brigade and wider food and beverage team.
• Support menu planning, recipe development and seasonal offerings as required.
