Job summary

Accor's ibis Mackay is seeking a passionate Commis Chef to join our culinary team. Working in a fast-paced kitchen serving TurBARlence Tavern, room service and conference spaces, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food and supporting the wider kitchen team.

You will assist in maintaining food safety, portion control and stock management, with early morning, weekend and public holiday availability.

Qualifications

• Previous chef experience.
• Relevant cookery or trade qualifications.
• Experience in a busy, high-volume kitchen.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP.
• Positive, flexible and able to work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and consistent food quality.
• Available across early mornings, weekends and public holidays.
• Full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Maintain consistent food quality, presentation and portion control
• Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage
• Prepare and ensureavailability of mis en place as required
• Follow all hotel and kitchen policies, procedures and standards
• Provide accurate menu and allergen information to the Food and Beverage team when required
• Keeps all working areas clean and tidy
• Be familiar with other areas in the Kitchen so when called upon, assistance can be provided
