Pullman Palm Cove Sea Temple Resort & Spa, a luxurious retreat on Palm Cove beach just north of Cairns, invites you to join our kitchen team as Commis Chef. You will learn from our senior chefs, demonstrate your passion for food, and help deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

This role emphasizes HACCP compliance, high-quality presentation, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment, with opportunities to grow across restaurant service, in-room dining, and event catering.

Qualifications

• Recognised culinary training and professional cooking experience.
• Commercial cookery certification and food safety qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring food presentation meets property standards and timing.
• Adhere to health, safety and HACCP regulations.

Our renowned Temple of Tastes restaurant offers sophisticated cuisine and award‑winning service, setting the stage for unforgettable meals. The Lagoon Bar, nestled beside our expansive pool, provides a vibrant atmosphere where guests can unwind with refreshing cocktails and light snacks. For those seeking privacy, our in‑room dining service delivers indulgent meals directly to their elegant accommodations. The resort also boasts versatile conference and event spaces, accommodating up to 80 guests. From dream weddings to corporate gatherings, you will contribute to creating seamless and memorable events.

Purpose

As our Commis Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our team, learning from our experienced senior chefs, showcasing your unwavering love for food, creative spark, and strong teamwork abilities collaborating to create dishes that leave a lasting impression.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensuring that food presented to guests aligns with property standards and is served within designated timeframes, whilst maintaining high quality and presentation
• Stay diligent in adhering to local regulations related to health, safety, and compliance, with a solid grasp of HACCP management
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in preparing food items
• Receive ongoing training and guidance from senior chefs
• Handle a range of kitchen tasks, from dishwashing to crafting delectable dishes

Skills & Experience

• The possession of recognised culinary training and employment experience
• A commercial cookery certification and preferably, you will have obtained safe food handling certificate or food safety supervisor
• Someone who has ambition, raw talent, and a passion for food
• Being open to feedback and willing to experiment with new ideas is a big plus
• Thriving in a fast‑paced team environment is key
• The ability to communicate in a clear and articulate manner
• Flexible availability to accommodate various shifts, including mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
