Job description

If you are curious & creative, invested in not only your own success but also the growth of others, and believe in building the Great Australian Food Company, then you might be the one for us!

The Role

This is a commercially focused opportunity for an experienced Collections professional to protect cash flow across Bega Group's high‑value, high‑volume Non‑Grocery portfolio. As a Collections Officer, you will take full ownership of end‑to‑end collections for assigned accounts, applying strong credit discipline to recover debt and control risk. Experience working with ERP systems is important, with SAP experience highly regarded.

Operating in a fast‑moving environment, you will manage complex, high‑value accounts, reduce overdue balances, resolve invoice issues, and keep AR within agreed ageing targets. Your work will directly impact working capital performance, data accuracy, and business efficiency.

Beyond day‑to‑day collections, you will work with Sales, Customer Service and Finance to execute effective collection strategies, mitigate issues early, and contribute to process and system improvements. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on business performance while building strong internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Manage end‑to‑end collections across an assigned portfolio of accounts, ensuring the timely recovery of outstanding payments and minimisation of aged debt.
  • Maintain strong accounts receivable performance by proactively reducing overdue balances and ensuring customer accounts remain within agreed trading terms.
  • Reconcile customer accounts, investigate and resolve payment, credit, and invoice discrepancies, and clear aged outstanding items in a timely manner.
  • Negotiate effective payment arrangements with customers, applying sound judgement to assess risk and determine appropriate collection strategies.
  • Allocate and clear customer receipts accurately, including the management and resolution of unallocated cash.
  • Apply strong credit and commercial judgement when managing complex and high‑value customer portfolios.
About you
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in Credit & Collections or Accounts Receivable within an FMCG or similarly high-volume environment, with strong reconciliation capabilities and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large transactional accounts, including deduction management, utilisation of major retailer portals, and effective stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in SAP (or a comparable ERP system), with advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and account management.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with proven experience handling both inbound and outbound customer interactions and collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines and workloads in a fast‑paced environment.
