Job summary

Barwon Health is seeking an Registered Anaesthetics and PACU Nurse to provide patient-focused nursing care in a dynamic team. The role is based in a modern facility with professional development support and opportunities.

The position involves preparing patients for surgery, assisting anaesthetists, monitoring recovery, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board.
• Demonstrated experience in Anaesthetics and/or PACU nursing.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in the Anaesthetic and PACU environments.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia.
• Monitor and assess patients in the recovery phase, responding promptly to changes in clinical condition.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with organisational policies and professional standards.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement standards.
• Support and mentor junior staff and students as appropriate.
