Job summary

eShepherd is expanding its CloudOps capabilities to design, build, and optimize scalable AWS infrastructure powering thousands of IoT devices. You will improve performance, reliability, and global scalability while shaping multi-region architecture in a fast-growing AgTech platform.

The role emphasizes automation, observability, and cross-functional collaboration with Melbourne engineering teams and North American stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience managing and scaling production AWS environments.
• Strong MySQL performance tuning and database optimisation.
• Experience with containerised environments, including ECS and/or EKS.
• Infrastructure as Code experience, ideally using Terraform.
• Strong CI/CD and automation skills.
• Python, Node.js or similar scripting capability.
• Experience diagnosing performance, reliability and scalability issues.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Analyse system performance, capacity and reliability at scale.
• Improve database performance, architecture and operational efficiency.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling.
• Strengthen monitoring, observability and incident response practices.
• Help shape multi-region and global platform architecture.
• Investigate and solve complex performance and scalability challenges.
• Support production environments that are relied upon by customers every day.
• Partner with customer-facing teams to understand how our platform performs in real-world environments.
• Influence engineering decisions through experimentation, evidence and data-driven insights.
