Job summary

Medibank Private Limited in Australia seeks an experienced Cloud Tech Lead to join our Cloud Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Cloud Operations, you will provide technical leadership across AWS cloud infrastructure and guide outsourced technology partners.

This role blends operational support with continuous service improvement, partnering with software developers, network engineers and DBAs to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable cloud solutions.

The Opportunity

As Medibank continues to invest in innovative and forward-thinking technology initiatives, we are seeking an experienced Cloud Tech Lead to join our Cloud Engineering team.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Cloud Operations, you will provide technical leadership across AWS cloud infrastructure, guiding outsourced technology partners and driving excellence in incident, change, and problem management.

This role offers the opportunity to work across both operational support and continuous service improvement initiatives, partnering with software developers, network engineers, database administrators, and key stakeholders to deliver resilient, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. You'll play a critical role in troubleshooting complex issues, leading technical decision-making, and helping shape the future of our cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary cloud subject matter expert, providing technical advice and guidance to both technology and business stakeholders.
• Lead and support the management of AWS cloud infrastructure, including incident, change, and problem management activities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop automated cloud solutions and environments.
• Ensure adherence to security, compliance, data privacy, and data protection standards across cloud platforms.
• Lead the implementation and optimisation of monitoring, support, and operational capabilities across AWS and associated infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal teams and offshore partners to deliver high-quality cloud services and operational outcomes.
• Provide on call support as needed, lead major incident management, RCA and continuous service improvement initiatives
• Provide technical leadership during troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex cloud-related issues.

Must haves:

• Enjoy being a tech problem solver! Use Copilot, Devops Agent and logging via Splunk, CW and native tools to triage and narrow down the cause of tech problems
• Extensive experience working in AWS cloud environments, ideally in a Senior Engineer or Technical Lead capacity
• Someone who can migrate and deploy apps using CloudFormation and Terraform + associated troubleshooting
• One or more AWS industry certifications, demonstrating strong cloud platform expertise.
• Strong hands on experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure operations, automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and provide expert technical guidance across multiple teams.
• Experience mentoring teams and collaborating with offshore delivery partners.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
