Job summary

Medibank's Digital Engineering division is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to lead our Web capability with a strong focus on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). You will guide web development across AEM, front-end and back-end technologies, driving standards and high-quality delivery within agile squads.

This technical leadership role combines active development with mentoring, architecture guidance and process improvement, working to deliver reusable assets and a robust digital platform

Qualifications

• 5+ years software engineering experience with hands-on web development
• Proven hands-on AEM experience — templates, components, authoring patterns
• Strong Java background; experience with RESTful APIs and micro-frontend patterns
• JUnit/Mockito and automated testing mindset; CI/CD and DevOps experience
• Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and teamwork in Agile environments

• Champion coding standards, component frameworks, and secure, testable patterns

Medibank Digital Engineering is seeking a hands‑on Senior Software Engineer to lead our Web capability with a strong focus on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). You will be the capability lead for web development across AEM, front‑end and back‑end technologies, driving standards, reusable assets and high‑quality delivery across agile squads. This is a technical leadership role that combines active development with mentoring, architecture guidance and process improvement.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead design and delivery of AEM-based solutions (templates, components, authoring patterns) and integration with backend services.
• Implement and champion coding standards, component frameworks, OSGi best practices and secure, testable patterns across squads.
• Hands‑on development: Java, Sling, OSGi, AEM component/template development and CI/CD pipeline contributions.
• Build performant, maintainable front‑end experiences (React/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, SASS/LESS) that integrate with AEM.
• Participate in agile planning, estimation, story refinement and regular code reviews.
• Provide L2/L3 production support, incident response and continuous improvement based on incident trends.
• Mentor engineers, influence delivery practices, and contribute to the digital technology roadmap and reusable asset library.
• Deliver measurable process improvements and champion compliance, security and quality controls.

Must‑have skills & experience:

• 5+ years software engineering experience; 4+ years web development experience.
• Proven hands‑on experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) — templates, components, dialogs, clientlibs, and authoring patterns.
• Strong knowledge of Apache Sling and OSGi frameworks.
• Experience with Adobe Experience Cloud products (Experience Manager, Target, Campaign, Analytics) desirable.
• Strong Java development background and experience with build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and micro‑frontend patterns.
• Test‑driven mindset and experience with automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, Jest, Karma, etc.).
• CI/CD and DevOps experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure/GCP) and experience working in Agile teams.
• Excellent communication, mentorship and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Highly desirable

• Strong data modelling and architecture skills.
• Experience establishing governance, quality controls and reusable platform components.
