Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Senior Education Support Officer (Clinical) to lead the Central Clinical School Education Support Team and support the Sydney Medical School MD program. The role is based primarily at the Susan Wakil Health Building, with a minimum of four days on-site each week and occasional shifts at other locations, with hybrid arrangements possible.

You will oversee teaching administration, timetabling, assessments and student activities, while guiding staff development

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality education support services in a complex organisation.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff, including performance management.
• Knowledge of university administrative processes in a tertiary education environment.
• Experience using learning management systems and understanding timetabling and student activities.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with initiative and judgement.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication with a client focus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and using technology to improve efficiency.
• Experience troubleshooting audiovisual and IT issues, including Zoom and Teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.
• Willingness to move regularly across campus to support teaching activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan and manage the Central Clinical School Education Support Team with supervision and performance management.
• Coordinate and deliver operational support for clinical teaching activities, including assessments and examinations.
• Oversee complex timetabling and clinical education scheduling with clear communication to students and staff.
• Provide high-level administrative support to the Manager and academic leaders across stakeholders.
• Support staff development through annual performance and development reviews.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support implementation of policies and compliance requirements.
• Identify operational challenges and implement practical, service-focused solutions.
