Job summary

Responsibilities

Job description

Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council - Bathurst NSW

Key responsibilities

• Undertake client intake, assessment and eligibility screening for access to homelessness and housing support services
• Develop, implement and review client-centred case plans that identify goals, strengths, support needs and pathways to housing stability
• Provide ongoing case management, advocacy, information, referrals and practical support to assist clients in achieving their goals
• Undertake risk assessments and respond appropriately to crisis situations in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
• Support clients to maintain safety, particularly women and children experiencing domestic and family violence
• Assist clients to access specialist services including health, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, legal, financial, education and employment support
• Assist clients to secure, establish and maintain safe, affordable and appropriate accommodation
• Support clients in their interactions with community housing providers, real estate agents, landlords and other housing services
• Promote client safety through risk assessment, safety planning and referrals to appropriate specialist services
• Work collaboratively with internal teams, partner organisations and community stakeholders to coordinate services and achieve positive outcomes for clients

Selection Criteria

• Certificate III in Community Services, or a related qualification, or demonstrated equivalent experience in the community services sector
• Experience working with individuals, families or vulnerable clients experiencing complex needs, including homelessness, housing instability, domestic and family violence, mental health concerns or other social issues
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and organise workload effectively
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and contribute to positive team outcomes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with a diverse range of people
• Demonstrated client-focused approach with the ability to build rapport, provide support and respond empathetically to client needs
• Demonstrated resilience, sound judgement and the ability to respond appropriately in challenging situations
