Job summary

MW Recruitment is seeking a Client Manager for a Brisbane public practice firm of about 60 staff in Fortitude Valley. You will own a portfolio of SMB clients, with offshore support handling prep so your day is review, client contact and advice.

The role involves preparing and reviewing FS, tax returns and BAS, delivering monthly/quarterly management accounts, and guiding budgeting, forecasting and cashflow. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified.
• 8+ years public practice experience in AU.
• Experience with companies, trusts, partnerships & sole traders.
• Ability to manage client relationships without a manager present.
• Offshore support on every portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of SMB clients and be their primary contact.
• Prepare/review financial statements, tax returns and BAS for entities.
• Deliver monthly/quarterly management accounts and explain them.
• Provide budgeting, forecasting and cashflow guidance.
• Lead year-end planning conversations, including tax structuring.
• Review work of junior accountants and mentor them.
• Coordinate daily with offshore team and brief reviews.
• Introduce other group services when needed (lending, wealth).

Client Manager - Business Services (Brisbane)

Run your own portfolio of SMB clients in a Fortitude Valley firm, with offshore support taking care of the prep so your time goes on review, advice and client contact.

About The Role

This is a public practice Client Manager role in a Brisbane firm of around 60 people, part of a multi-business group covering bookkeeping, financial advice, lending and property. You will own a portfolio of small and medium business clients end to end, with offshore support handling preparation so your day is review, client contact and advice.

What You Will Be Doing

• Owning a portfolio of SMB clients as their primary point of contact


• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and BAS for companies, trusts, partnerships, sole traders and SMSFs


• Delivering monthly and quarterly management accounts and walking clients through what they mean


• Providing guidance beyond compliance, including budgeting, forecasting and cashflow


• Leading year end and planning conversations, including tax planning and structuring


• Reviewing the work of intermediate and junior accountants and giving feedback that develops them


• Acting as the technical backstop for the bookkeeping team when a job outgrows them


• Working daily with the offshore team, setting the brief and reviewing what comes back


• Identifying where a client needs another part of the group, such as lending or wealth, and making the introduction

What We Are Looking For

• CA or CPA qualified


• At least 8 years in public practice, including recent Australian experience


• Comfortable across companies, trusts, partnerships and sole traders


• Confident holding a client relationship without a manager in the room


• Desirable: Division 7A and small business CGT in practice, and experience reviewing or mentoring others


• Offshore support on every portfolio


• 2 days WFH & flexible hours, plus Finish Early Fridays
