Job summary

Recruit Collective on the Gold Coast is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of an established client portfolio, delivering accounting, taxation and advisory services with autonomy.

The role combines technical tax and financial reporting work with strong client relationship management, mentorship of junior staff, and collaboration with offshore support. The firm emphasizes technology, AI-driven tools and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Accounting qualifications + CA or CPA.
  • 10+ years' experience within Australian public practice accounting.
  • Exposure to SMSFs would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical expertise across taxation, compliance and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing your own client portfolio.
  • Ability to complete engagements from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience mentoring, supporting or reviewing junior team members.
  • Solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Adaptability to emerging technologies, automation and AI.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of business clients across taxation, compliance, financial reporting and advisory engagements.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, income tax returns and BAS for various entity structures.
  • Providing proactive taxation, commercial and strategic business advice.
  • Acting as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for clients.
  • Managing engagements from commencement through to completion with minimal review.

The Role

You will take ownership of an established portfolio ofclients, providing accounting, taxation and advisory services while workingclosely with junior accountants, graduates and offshore support staff.

  • Managinga portfolio of business clients across taxation, compliance, financialreporting and advisory engagements
  • Preparingand reviewing financial statements, income tax returns and BAS for avariety of entity structures
  • Providingproactive taxation, commercial and strategic business advice
  • Actingas the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor for clients
  • Managingengagements from commencement through to completion with minimal reviewrequired
  • Workingclosely with the Directors on complex taxation and advisory matters
  • Reviewing,mentoring and supporting junior accountants and graduates
  • Collaboratingwith offshore accounting resources to ensure high-quality client outcomes
  • Identifyingopportunities to improve systems, workflows and client outcomes
  • Leveragingtechnology, automation and AI tools to drive efficiencies across thepractice
  • Ensuringstrong communication and service delivery across all client interactions
  • Workingcollaboratively across the team to provide cross-cover and maintainexceptional client service standards

The Successful Candidate

You’re confident managing clients independently, butequally value collaboration and understand the importance of being part of ateam, sharing a laugh, and celebrating the wins. One team, one dream.

  • RelevantAccounting qualifications + CA or CPA
  • 10+years' experience within Australian public practice accounting
  • Exposure to Self-Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) would be considered advantageous
  • Strongtechnical expertise across taxation, compliance and financial reporting
  • Experiencemanaging your own client portfolio
  • Theability to complete engagements from start to finish with minimalsupervision
  • Confidenceproviding practical advice and solutions to clients
  • Strongcommunication and relationship-building skills
  • Experiencementoring, supporting or reviewing the work of junior team members
  • Asolutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
