Job summary

Quilpie Shire Council is seeking a motivated Cleaner to support our community in western Queensland. You will be the friendly first point of contact, keeping council buildings clean and safe while supporting various departments to ensure operations run smoothly.

Reporting to the Town Services Supervisor, you’ll perform general cleaning, assist with training room upkeep, and handle functions before and after events.

Qualifications

  • Current General Construction Induction Card
  • Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
  • Current Tetanus, Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B immunisations (or willing to obtain)
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision
  • Ability to lift and stack tables and chairs

Responsibilities

  • Undertake general cleaning of council buildings including vacuuming, sweeping and dusting desks/tables; empty rubbish bins; clean toilets and restock supplies; clean morning tea room and wash up; clean lights, walls, windows and carpets.
  • General cleaning of training rooms.
  • Clean buildings prior to and after functions.
  • Stock take of equipment before and after uses at functions and report missing items to Administration Office.
  • Other duties as requested by the Town Services Supervisor or Deputy/Director within the incumbent’s skill set

Your opportunity

As a Cleaner at Quilpie Shire Council, you will be the friendly first point of contact for our community and a key player in keeping operations running smoothly.

Reporting to the Town Services Supervisor, you will provide vital support to various departments, ensuring the work we do every day directly benefits our community.

With integrity and pride, you will:

  • Undertake general cleaning of council buildings including:
    • Vacuuming, sweeping and dusting of desks and tables;
    • Emptying of rubbish bins;
    • Cleaning toilets including replacing toilet paper and hand rolls;
    • Cleaning morning tea room and wash up when required;
    • Cleaning lights of insects etc.;
    • Cleaning interior and exterior walls and windows; and
    • Cleaning carpet floor.
  • General cleaning of training rooms;
  • Cleaning of buildings prior to and after functions;
  • Stock take of all equipment before and after use at functions - report any missing items to Administration Office immediately; and
  • Other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Town Services Supervisor or Deputy/Director of Infrastructure Services within the skill set of the incumbent.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
  • Current General Construction Induction Card;
  • Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence;

  • The ability to carry out tasks which may involve lifting and stacking of tables and chairs
Although it’s not essential, it would be great if you had:
  • Experience in the operation and use of commercial cleaning equipment (vacuum polisher, scrubber etc.).
