Job summary

TAL in Australia is seeking a Claims Governance & Risk Specialist to strengthen risk governance across the claims portfolio. You will embed compliant, consistent decision-making and drive improvements in controls and training.

Based in Sydney with hybrid work options, you will lead risk insights, analyse trends, support regulators and stakeholders, and help attract trust from customers and our people.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in risk, compliance or technical claims within a regulated environment.
• Strong understanding of life insurance frameworks, claims handling and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to analyse problems and deliver practical solutions that improve processes and outcomes.
• Confident communicator who can translate technical concepts into clear, meaningful insights.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across all levels.
• Collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide risk and governance insights that enable compliant, commercially sound claims decisions.
• Identify and address risk trends, delivering recommendations that strengthen claims practices.
• Drive continuous improvement by partnering with stakeholders to uplift processes, controls and training.
• Enhance complaints outcomes by analysing trends and improving resolution approaches and capability.
• Lead regulatory and audit responses, ensuring high-quality outputs and timely issue remediation.
• Support risk culture by helping teams identify, manage and monitor risk and compliance effectively.
