Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Project Technical Lead/Team Lead in Sydney to drive delivery from concept to construction while mentoring engineers and drafters across a civil team. You will shape technical standards, manage risk, and support business development through client engagement and strategic planning.

You will oversee budgets and profitability, promote collaboration across offices, and lead by example in a high-performance culture focused on development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years' relevant project experience.
• CPEng/NER accreditation is highly desirable.
• Registered Design Practitioner or on pathway to achieve, highly desirable.
• Strong leadership and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading project delivery from concept design through to construction, ensuring technical excellence.
• Playing a key role in business development and client engagement, including maintaining and expanding existing relationships.
• Identifying new opportunities and contributing to strategic planning and growth initiatives.
• Overseeing project financials including fee proposals, resourcing, budgeting, and profitability.
• Managing and mentoring engineers, modellers and drafters within the team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Peer review of design work and documentation to ensure quality and compliance.
• Representing the business in client meetings, presentations, and industry forums.
• Contributing to the continual improvement of systems, processes, and design standards.
• Ensure adherence to professional standards, ethics and quality procedures and standards and make project teams aware of commercial and technical risk and what they should do to minimise it.
