Job summary

Amey Australia’s Rockhampton office is seeking a Civil Designer to deliver high‑quality civil design solutions across land development and infrastructure projects. This hands‑on role offers responsibility, autonomy, and a direct impact on project outcomes.

You’ll work with Project Managers and Senior Designers to produce detailed drawings, support delivery from concept to construction, and mentor Cadet Designers within a collaborative team that supports Queensland communities and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3+ years' experience in civil design and drafting.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and 12d Model.
• Sound understanding of engineering design principles, industry standards, and approval processes.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience working with local government authorities and regulatory agencies.
• Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with Project Managers and Senior Designers, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality civil design solutions across a range of projects.

This is a hands-on position that offers genuine responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on project outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing detailed civil design drawings, calculations, and documentation
• Producing accurate and compliant designs using 12d Model and AutoCAD
• Supporting project delivery from concept design through to construction documentation

About You

You are a motivated Civil Designer who combines strong technical skills with a proactive and solution-focused approach.

Approximately 3+ years' experience in civil design and drafting

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and 12d Model

Sound understanding of engineering design principles, industry standards, and approval processes

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities

Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Associate Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
