Amey Australia is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to gain hands-on exposure across design, site and client-facing work in Rockhampton. You will support senior engineers and project managers, help prepare reports and impact assessments, and participate in site inspections to monitor progress.
You’ll contribute to design work, assist with contract documentation and liaise with clients and authorities, building practical engineering foundations for a growing regional team.
Start your engineering career where your work actually gets built. This Graduate Civil Engineer role offers real exposure across design, site, and client-facing work, giving you the chance to see projects through from concept to delivery. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that values practical thinking, accountability and steady professional growth.
This is a hands-on position where no two weeks look exactly the same. You’ll support senior engineers and project managers while gradually taking ownership of your own workstreams.
Your day-to-day will include helping prepare engineering reports, proposals and impact assessments, while also getting out on site to assist with inspections and monitor project progress. You’ll contribute to design work and calculations, support contract documentation, and help track project deliverables to make sure timelines and standards are met.
You’ll also be involved in liaising with clients, contractors and local authorities, giving you early exposure to stakeholder management and how projects are delivered in practice.

This role will suit someone who is curious, practical, and willing to learn on the job rather than expecting to stay behind a desk.
You’ll be joining a close-knit team that works across both office and field environments. The culture is collaborative and grounded, where graduates are trusted with real responsibility but supported by experienced engineers and project managers.
Expect a mix of office-based work and site visits, sometimes in varied or remote environments, so flexibility and a hands-on mindset are important.
This is a solid opportunity if you're looking to build practical engineering experience and develop into a well-rounded consultant.
