Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council in Bowen is seeking a Civil Construction Worker to join the Infrastructure Services directorate. You will perform labouring duties for roads and drainage maintenance and construction across the Whitsunday region.

The role includes a 9-day fortnight, locality allowance and health and wellbeing benefits, with opportunities to develop skills in plant operation and traffic management across diverse sites.

Qualifications

• Essential: class MR or HR/HC driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain).
• White Card (General Construction Safety Induction).
• Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain).
• Traffic Management Implementation (or willingness to obtain).
• Agriculture Chemical Distribution & Control (or willingness to obtain).
• Provide First aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Operate plant and trucks in accordance with manufacturer requirements and WHS legislation.
• Identify plant or truck defects and complete defect identification forms.
• Work effectively with limited supervision.
• Carry out general labouring duties including vegetation control, road maintenance and drainage construction, concrete works and small plant operation.
• Implement traffic management requirements (traffic guidance schemes and plans).

Key Responsibilities

• Operate plant and trucks in accordance with manufacturer requirements and Workplace Health and Safety legislation

• Work effectively and productively with limited supervision
• Carry out general labouring duties, including vegetation control, road maintenance and construction drainage activities, concrete works, and small plant operation
• Implement traffic management requirements (including traffic guidance schemes and traffic management plans)

1. High Risk licence Forklift
2. Operational Competency in Plant Operation for Roller, Backhoe, Grader, Bobcat (Skid Steer).
3. Certificate III in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain)
