Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council in Bowen is seeking a Civil Construction Worker for roads and drainage maintenance. Join a team delivering safe, productive labouring duties with plant operations across the Whitsunday region.

The role requires a relevant driver’s licence, White Card, and willingness to obtain traffic control/management qualifications. Attractive salary and nine-day fortnight benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Class MR/HR/HC driver licences or willingness to obtain.
• General Construction Safety Induction (White Card) required.
• Traffic Control and Traffic Management knowledge or willingness to obtain.
• High Risk forklift licence desirable.
• Certificate III in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Operate plant and trucks per manufacturer specs and WHS rules.
• Identify defects and complete forms accurately.
• Carry out general labouring: vegetation, road maintenance, drainage, concrete works, small plant.
• Support traffic management requirements and plans.
• Work with limited supervision and maintain safety.

An exciting opportunity exists within our Infrastructure Services directorate for a Civil Construction Worker. In this role, you will be responsible for providing labouring duties associated with roads and drainage maintenance and construction in the Whitsunday region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate plant and trucks in accordance with manufacturer requirements and Workplace Health and Safety legislation
• Identify plant or truck defects and complete defect identification forms accurately
• Work effectively and productively with limited supervision
• Carry out general labouring duties, including vegetation control, road maintenance and construction drainage activities, concrete works, and small plant operation
• Implement traffic management requirements (including traffic guidance schemes and traffic management plans)

Your skills and experience

• Class MR or HR/HC Driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain)
• General Construction Safety Induction (White card)
• Traffic Control (or willingness to obtain)
• Traffic Management Implementation (or willingness to obtain)
• Agriculture Chemical Distribution and Control (or willingness to obtain)
• Provide First aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
• High Risk licence Forklift
• Operational Competency in Plant Operation for Roller, Backhoe, Grader, Bobcat (Skid Steer).
• Certificate III in Civil Construction (or willingness to obtain)
