Job summary

Johnson Controls in Australia is seeking an experienced Chiller Technician to service and maintain large-scale cooling systems for critical facilities. You will work across a diverse customer portfolio with autonomy and exposure to leading-edge equipment.

The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and technical leadership, with opportunities for career progression into senior technical, project management, or leadership roles within a global organisation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' experience servicing chillers, HVAC systems, or industrial cooling equipment.
• Strong fault-finding, maintenance, and repair experience.
• Mechanical and/or electrical trade qualifications.
• Experience with centrifugal, screw, or reciprocating chillers preferred.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Current driver's licence and ability to pass pre-employment screening.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and respond to breakdowns across chillers and HVAC systems.
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance.
• Commission chillers and HVAC equipment at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Service and overhaul centrifugal, screw, and reciprocating chillers.
• Complete service reports and technical documentation accurately.
• Develop trusted relationships with customers and provide expert technical advice.
• Support customer training and operational best practices.

As part of our expanding Service Team, we're seeking an experienced Chiller Technician who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and respond to breakdowns across a broad range of chiller and HVAC systems
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance activities
• Commission chillers and HVAC equipment at customer sites
• Troubleshoot, fault-find, and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
• Service and overhaul reciprocating, screw, and centrifugal chillers
• Complete service reports and technical documentation accurately
• Develop trusted relationships with customers and provide expert technical advice
• Support customer training and operational best practices

What You'll Bring

• Minimum 4 years' experience servicing chillers, HVAC systems, or industrial cooling equipment
• Strong fault-finding, maintenance, and repair experience
• Mechanical and/or electrical trade qualifications
• Experience working with centrifugal, screw, or reciprocating chillers highly regarded
• Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Current driver's licence
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and background screening requirements
