Job summary

Johnson Controls in Cairns, QLD, is seeking an experienced Chiller Technician to service and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems across diverse sites. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, commission equipment and provide technical support, with autonomy and opportunities to advance into specialist, project management or sales roles.

Applicants should have at least 4 years in HVAC or industrial cooling, trade qualifications, reading schematics, a valid

• Minimum 4 years' experience in HVAC, refrigeration or industrial cooling.
• Mechanical or electrical trade qualification.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and ability to pass background checks.
• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and respond to breakdown service calls
• Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on chiller and HVAC systems
• Commission and test equipment at customer sites
• Troubleshoot and repair reciprocating, screw and centrifugal chillers
• Complete overhauls and system performance assessments
• Produce accurate service reports and documentation
• Build strong customer relationships through exceptional service delivery
• Provide technical advice and operational support to customers

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Chiller Technician to join our Cairns Service Team.

You'll be responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting and commissioning a wide range of commercial and industrial chiller and HVAC systems across diverse customer sites. This role offers plenty of autonomy, variety and opportunities to further develop your technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and respond to breakdown service calls

• Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on chiller and HVAC systems

• Commission and test equipment at customer sites

• Troubleshoot and repair reciprocating, screw and centrifugal chillers

• Complete overhauls and system performance assessments

• Produce accurate service reports and documentation

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Minimum 4 years' experience in HVAC, refrigeration or industrial cooling

• Strong troubleshooting, maintenance and repair experience

• Mechanical and/or electrical trade qualifications

• Experience working with commercial or industrial chiller systems

• Ability to read schematics and technical drawings

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Current Australian driver's licence

• Ability to successfully complete pre-employment medical and background checks
