Job summary

Nillumbik Shire Council in Greensborough, VIC, is seeking a dedicated Child Safety and Inclusion Officer. This permanent full‑time role supports council's child safety, reconciliation, inclusion and equity initiatives, delivering policy development, reporting and governance tasks to strengthen community outcomes.

You will work with the Inclusion, Equity and Child Safety Lead, help implement the Child Safe Standards, monitor progress, and support staff across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 and related legislation.
• Experience supporting committees, agendas, minutes and reports.
• Ability to develop and review child safety policies and reporting frameworks.
• Understanding of governance and risk monitoring.
• Experience in inclusion and equity initiatives.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development and implementation of child safety policies and reporting frameworks.
• Support reporting, risk monitoring and progress updates for committees.
• Coordinate administration of working groups, including agendas and action tracking.
• Contribute to implementation of inclusion and equity plans.
• Provide staff guidance on Child Safe Standards and related requirements.
• Support capacity-building initiatives to strengthen child safety practices.
• Collaborate with Disability Inclusion Officer and Volunteer Development Officer.
