Job summary

The Jetty Pavilion in Coffs Harbour, NSW is seeking an experienced chef to join our kitchen team in a permanent, full-time role. You will prepare, cook and present dishes to a high standard and help develop menu items and seasonal specials.

We value food safety, teamwork and the ability to work under pressure across rosters. Salary is $80,000–$85,000 AUD per year plus superannuation, with training and development opportunities in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Formal cookery qualification at AQF level IV or higher.
• Ability to work under pressure in a commercial kitchen.
• Capacity to work as part of a team and across rostered days/hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes to a high standard.
• Develop and update menu items, including seasonal specials.
• Manage food ordering, stock levels and portion control to minimise waste.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS standards.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant at all times.
• Collaborate with kitchen, front of house and management for efficient service.

About the role:

• Prepare, cook and present dishes to a consistently high standard
• Develop and update menu items, including seasonal specials
• Manage food ordering, stock levels and portion control to minimise waste
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
• Supervise and train kitchen staff
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant at all times
• Work collaboratively with kitchen teams, front of house staff and management to ensure efficient service and operations.

About you:

• Formal qualifications in commercial cookery AQF Associate Certificate IV or higher level
• Minimum one year experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to work under pressure, as part of a team and across rostered days/hours
• Right to work in Australia
