Job summary

The Walkabout Lodge & Tavern in Nhulunbuy, part of Waymark Hotels, is seeking a Cook or Chef to join the team. Using only the freshest local produce, our restaurant is well known for its diverse and modern cuisine.

You will assist in maintaining an efficient kitchen, ensure meals are high quality and ready on time, work with seasonal menus, rotate stock, minimise waste, and contribute to menu changes as needed.

Qualifications

• Applicants should have formal qualifications and at least 1 year of relevant employment experience or, in the absence of formal qualifications, have at least 3 years of relevant employment experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist our team in maintaining an efficient and proactive kitchen operation across both venues.
• Ensure all meals are of high quality and are prepared on time.
• Prepare, cook, and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu, using fresh and prepared ingredients.
• Practice stock rotation and minimise wastage.
• Assist with menu changes when required.

As a Chef / Cook, your daily responsibilities will include:

• Assisting our team in maintaining an efficient and proactive kitchen operation across both venues
• Ensuring all meals are of high quality and are prepared on time
• Utilising a variety of fresh, frozen, and prepared ingredients to prepare, cook, and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu
• Practicing effective stock rotation and wastage minimisation procedures
• Assisting with menu changes when required

Successful Candidate:

To be successful in the role, you will possess the following:

• Previous experience in a fast-paced commercial kitchen
• Availability to work any hospitality hours
• Ability to work well under a high-pressure environment
• Brilliant communication skills to all team members
