El Attar Middle Eastern Grill in Toowoomba seeks a motivated, experienced chef to join our kitchen team in a fast-paced environment. We offer lunch and dinner service 7 days a week, with a focus on high-quality Middle Eastern cuisine and team leadership.

The ideal candidate is proactive, can manage a kitchen, and is able to work nights and weekends, ensuring top-notch food presentation and safety standards. Ongoing training and development opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced chef with commercial cookery background.
• Health and safety standards rigorously applied.
• Ability to plan, design and manage menus and kitchen workflow.
• Experience leading kitchen teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Determine how food should be presented and create decorative displays.
• Instruct cooks and other workers in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation.
• Hire, train and supervise cooks and food preparation staff.
• Organise a kitchen team within a busy environment.
• Plan and design menus for lunch and dinner service 7 days a week.
• Operate within state food handling guidelines and safety rules.
• Discuss food preparation issues with the team as needed.
• Ensure consistency and high quality in taste, presentation and temperatures.
• Ensure quality and cleanliness of all food displays.
• Check stores and refrigerators and manage leftovers storage/recycling.

El Attar Middle Eastern Grill located in Toowoomba is currently seeking a motivated, experienced chef to join our kitchen team, in a fast-paced and energetic environment. Our restaurant offers lunch and dinner service 7 days a week. As our venue is rapidly growing, we are currently looking for a Qualified and experienced chef to join our team who can cater for our cuisines.

Key responsibilities

• Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays
• Instruct cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
• Hire, train, and supervise cooks and other food preparation workers
• Demonstrate ability to organise a kitchen team within a busy environment
• Plan and design menus
• Operate within the guidelines set by the state for food handling
• Discuss food preparation issues with the team
• Ensure consistency and highest quality in the taste, presentation and appropriate food temperature for food served in all kitchens
• Ensure the quality and cleanliness of all food displays
• Check stores and refrigerators and be responsible for the proper storing and recycling of leftovers

About you

• Australian equivalent qualification in commercial cookery and management/business management
• Be proactive and responsible
• Be capable of organising and managing a kitchen
• Be able to work nights and weekends
• Ensure a high standard in the areas of health and safety, meal delivery and presentation
• Work well under pressure
• Possess a strong work ethic
• 2 years or more experience
• Experience with cooking middle eastern cuisines preferred
• Above award salary including 12% superannuation
