The Chef is responsible for overseeing the preparation and production of high-quality Indian cuisine while ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards.

The role requires expertise in traditional Indian cooking techniques, including the preparation of curries, sauces, marinades, and specialty dishes, while maintaining established recipes and presentation standards. The Chef manages daily kitchen activities, coordinates food preparation, monitors stock and ingredient quality, maintains hygiene and safety practices, and contributes to menu improvements and kitchen efficiency. The position plays an integral role in supporting smooth restaurant operations by delivering quality meals that meet customer expectations and the restaurant’s culinary standards.

Task & responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, biryanis, tandoori items, and rice specialties, while maintaining traditional flavours and quality standards.

Ensure consistency in food taste, portion control, presentation, and overall dining experience. Oversee daily kitchen operations, coordinate food preparation activities, and ensure smooth service delivery. Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.

Inspect ingredient quality, monitor freshness, and conduct regular quality checks to maintain food standards. Manage inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and implement practices to minimise food wastage. Supervise, train, and support junior kitchen staff to improve skills and maintain operational efficiency.

Contribute to menu improvements, recipe refinement, and development of seasonal or specialty dishes. Monitor food costs, optimise kitchen processes, and support efficient resource management. The Chef is expected to work collaboratively within the team, adapt to busy service environments, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Qualification & experience Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, cooking techniques, and spice combinations. Ability to manage kitchen operations in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Excellent food preparation, presentation, and time management skills.

Understanding of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Relevant Qualification and 2-3 years of work experience in Indian Cuisine Restaurant.
