Job summary

RSL LifeCare Limited, Narrabeen, is seeking a Chef to support our Residential Aged Care facility in Narrabeen. The role is casual and based on-site, offering flexibility within a values-driven not-for-profit organisation.

You will lead all aspects of food operations, ensure nutritious and varied meals, and tailor diets to needs while maintaining food safety and cost control in a busy kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading food operations and ensuring high standards of food safety.
• Proven ability to plan menus and cater to modified diets (diabetic, low salt, soft/pureed).
• Strong leadership and communication skills for teamwork in a busy kitchen.
• Knowledge of HACCP and regulatory food-handling requirements.
• Current Australian working rights and clearances (police check/NDIS check) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of food operations, including safety, prep and service.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals with variety and dietary considerations.
• Oversee ordering of food supplies and manage costs.
• Prepare meals for functions and maintain service standards.
• Collaborate with the Manager to refine food service quality.

Aged Care RSL LifeCare is a social purpose organisation providing leading aged care, retirement living, and veteran support services. With over 60 sites across NSW and the ACT, we are committed to empowering veterans and seniors to live their best lives with confidence.

We are currently seeking applications for a Chef to support our Residential Aged Care facility in Narrabeen.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Lead all aspects of food operations including food safety, preparation and service
• Preparation and service of meals ensuring nutritious and wholesome food and variety of food.
• Preparation of special diets and modified diets as required including low salt, diabetic, soft and pureed.
• Ordering and/or oversight of ordering of food supplies.
• Preparation of meals for functions.
• Maintain efficient cost control with regards to food preparation.
• Work in conjunction with the Manager to constantly refine and improve the food service standards.

About You

• Your demonstrated compassion and empathy.

• Your excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to ensure the best possible resident experience and teamwork
• Your track record of leadership, ability to coordinate kitchen operations in a busy and fast-paced environment
• Your experience in menu planning and catering to modified diets
• Your ability to work efficiently and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
• Current knowledge of Food Handling Legislative including HACCP requirements
• Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery as well as Food Safety Certification
• Australian Working Rights
