Job summary

Julatten Tavern, a country pub in Julatten, Far North Queensland, is seeking an Assistant Chef to join the kitchen team. You will assist with lunch and dinner service, follow recipes, and help maintain consistency and efficiency in a small, busy kitchen.

Ideally you have chef or cook experience, a Food Safety Certificate, and full Australian working rights. Weekend/evening/public holiday availability is required; accommodation support may be available for the right candidate.

About Us

Julatten Tavern is a country pub located in the small rural community of Julatten, between Mareeba and Port Douglas.

Under new ownership, we're bringing the Tavern back with a focus on great food, country hospitality and a relaxed local atmosphere.

Our menu is classic country pub food done well — large portion of menu focusing on quality steaks and pub favourites, alongside rotating specials.

We're looking for a reliable and capable Assistant Chef to join our kitchen team.

About the Role

Working alongside our team, you'll help with the preparation and delivery of lunch and dinner service and the day-to-day running of the kitchen.

You'll need to be confident working a busy service, following recipes and portion controls, maintaining consistency and jumping between different sections when required.

This is a hands‑on role in a small team, so everyone works together.
